Special Issue Introduction
Vascular biology remains to be a hot area of investigation. Mounting evidence supports the involvement of various epigenetic, metabolic, and pathogenic factors which modulate vascular cell phenotype and function. We would like to use the opportunity to bring together basic, translational, and clinical research demonstrating the role of environmental factors, inflammation, infection, host-microbiota interaction, metabolism, and nutrition in regulating the physiology and pathophysiology of the vascular system. We encourage authors to present their progress in advanced molecular imaging, metabolomics, genomics, proteomics, and single-cell analysis techniques for distinguishing vascular cell structure and function in normal and diseased conditions. In addition, we believe it would be imperative to present the updates on model systems, not limited to mammals. We anticipate this special issue will be of interest to researchers and clinicians in the broad areas of vascular biology.
